Flat Top Stove

I had an argument about the BF's flat top stove tonight.

Last night, I stopped by the store and picked up pork chops, potatoes, and garlic bread for dinner. When I got to his place, I made the chops, I whipped the potatoes, I cooked the bread. Unfortunately, the potatoes boiled over and apparently made a few little black spots on his stove. However, dinner was delicious, if I don't say so myself.

(Oh, btw, when we heard the potatoes boiling over, he looked at me, pointed, and said, what's that? No, no, don't get up now. Wouldn't want to miss a possession during the Cavs game, now, would you?!?)

However, tonight, I got yelled at because I "always make a mess" when I cook. Hmmm.

So, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little pissed. I cook so that I don't have to clean. Cleaning is his job. And, freaking give me a break - the water boiled over. It so NOT the end of the world. Oh, and btw, I WENT TO THE STORE AND COOKED THE MEAL. Shouldn't I get a little credit? (Ok, so he did say how it was a really good meal two or three times. But, that doesn't count).

When we're here, I do the cooking AND the cleaning. Why? Because my kitchen is too small and he doesn't know his way around. Blah. Learn your way around.

Think that'll be the last meal I'll be cooking for a while.

  1. I have to laugh at this because it sounds so familiar!!! I would be like that too " No Cooking for you!"

  2. UGH...not fair at all!!! I'd cook a meal & clean up after it- but make sure the meal is for ONE... you sit & enjoy it & say YUM every few bites... Tell him if he cant do part of the job, he cant eat part of the food! ;-)

  3. Wha--? Most single men would lick up every bite of the yummy potatoes, tell you repeatedly how much they can't cook and can't believe you made them dinner, and then leave the dirty dishes on the table while they drag you off into the bedroom for dessert.

Right?!? Tell me this is what single life is like...because that's TOTALLY how I see it going down in my head. :)

The inner bitch in me would have told him a real man could handle the mess and have enough strength to scrub off a few spots. (My inner bitch would also be slightly drunk before I said it...much later...like, months later...after it had eaten me up inside and then exploded out at the weirdest moment.)

  6. Don't cook for awhile and see if he misses it. I'm sure he will. And then he will never complain again. Well hopefully.

  7. Yes, stand your ground. I also say don't cook for a while.

I have to admit that I was slightly distracted when I read that your BF was a Cavs fan. If my Spurs can't make this year (my man, Manu Ginobili is out and that makes a HUGE difference) then I'm routing for the Cavs. I HATE the Lakers and Celtics.

Sorry, I love sports and I was very distracted. But the BF should be more appreciative. And it's not like the boiled over potato water doesn't come of?

  12. Geez, don't cry over spilled water right? LOL, and I so agree, whoever cooks should not have to do the dished too! It's an unwritten rule!

  13. Yeah, you either cook OR clean. Unless it's the man, who can just do both. (right). Next time, do all the shopping/cooking/cleaning but only for yourself.

  14. You need to either kick him in the balls or tell him to suck it. He is just plain rude!

  15. Flat tops are easy to clean. I had one back in OH. Besides I agree that if you do the cookin' he should be willing to do the cleanin'? Can't live with them and can certainly live without them ;)
