Angel vs. Devil

I have an angel on my shoulder. And, a devil on the other. They converse all day long. It goes something like this:

Devil: Yummy!!! Donut!!! Think how good that will taste.
Angel: Don't do it. Your hips will hate you for it.
Devil: Your mouth will love you, though.
Angel: You have to get on the scale soon!
Me: (((Insert donut in mouth))) ...Damn the Devil.

Often times, the Devil is encouraging me to do all the things I love to do that are bad for me. Eat bad food. Conveniently forget to work out. Blog instead of reading medical junk. You know how it goes.

Lately, I've been listening to the Devil much too often and I'm feeling very overwhelmed. I'm wondering how I've been juggling everything for so long. Where am I supposed to find time to nurture my relationship, maintain my friendships, keep in touch with my family, eat right, work out, sleep, learn what I need to learn to be a good physician, and so on?

I think maybe I should make a motion for days to be 36 hours in length. Who do I need to contact for that?

  1. Girl...get yo act together! You should only be sleeping like 3-4 hours at night and then you'll have PLENTY of time to squeeze in all that other stuff! lol

Good luck with all that. (I listen to that pesky devil person too much as well) Donuts are so yummy!

  2. Oh man... when it ESPECIALLY comes to donuts - that darn devil!

Have you seen that video where they are "interviewing" the devil - its really quite funny - but sad! Its the "devil" talking about how he robs people of the good things in life because he takes up all their time with useless stuff... its got truth all over it!

  3. I have a few friends who are doctors and had to put their careers on hold for a little while when they had kids.

You have a tough job and we all appreciate you and other doctors for daring to take it on. :)

  5. My lunch yesterday was a Healthy Choice french bread pizza and TWO (yep, 2) donuts. I wanted to unbutton my pants and put my head down on my desk and take a nap. :P

If you can talk someone into that 36 hour day thing, count me in!

But I think it's not about not listening to the devil, more about balance them altogether so you can have fun while doing what;s right. No?
